Audubon's life project was to hunt down every single species of American bird, shoot it and
paint it at life size for his book Birds of America - one the largest books ever published.
Audubon arrived in Liverpool in July 1826 and was welcomed by the Rathbones and William Roscoe, who arranged for an exhibition of his pictures. More information
